CAREERS · INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR

Project Manager

You keep client projects calm, clear and on track, one project at a time. You start each project with a short plan, send the client a simple weekly update, write down any change in scope before work on it begins, and make sure the client signs off on each finished piece. You are paid per project.

WHY ASTERION

A company worth growing with.

Asterion helps businesses bring AI and custom software into the way they actually work: the tools they already use, the processes that eat their week. We are growing, and we need good people to grow with.

  • Real work that matters. You help real business owners fix real problems. No busywork, no scripts for their own sake.
  • A company still being built. We are building this company on purpose. The people who join early shape how we work and can become a big part of it.
  • Fair, flexible and hands-off. Remote, with clear goals and room to do the work your way. Jonah, the founder, is not a strict boss: we want smart people who work hard and treat each other and customers fairly.
  • You earn more when you win more. We agree on your pay together before you start, no surprises. Do great work and you can make a lot of money doing this.

A NORMAL WEEK

What the work looks like.

  • Kick off new work: confirm scope, access, owners and acceptance checks with the client.
  • Keep one plan and one risk list per engagement, and send a short weekly update: what works now, what changed, what we need from the client, risks and next week.
  • Chase the access, data and answers the project needs, and clear blockers for the engineers.
  • Turn every new request into a written change request, agreed before work begins.
  • Run acceptance: a demo, the client’s reviewer passes or fails each deliverable, then the handoff (runbook, accounts, training, access revoked).

WHAT YOU WOULD OWN

Yours to run.

  • The plan, the risks and the relationship on each engagement.
  • Scope control: nothing outside the signed scope gets built without a written change.
  • The acceptance record for every deliverable.
  • Handoff and closeout, so every project ends cleanly.
  • An honest status: built, deployed, accepted and paid are four different things.

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED

What a good month looks like.

  • Projects accepted by the client, against the agreed plan.
  • Few days lost waiting on missing client items, because you asked early.
  • Every change request agreed in writing before work started.
  • Clean closeouts: the client confirms they can run what we handed over.

SKILLS

What we need from you.

Must have

  • Experience delivering software, IT or process projects for clients or internal customers.
  • Clear, calm writing and calls; you can say “that is out of scope” kindly and hold it.
  • Enough technical understanding to follow the engineers and ask good questions.
  • Organised and dependable, with the discipline to keep records straight.

Nice to have

  • Agency or consulting delivery, systems integrations or data migrations.
  • Writing statements of work or acceptance criteria.
  • Thinking about risk: what happens if this goes wrong?

TOOLS AND PEOPLE

What you would use, and who you would work with.

Tools

  • Asterion’s delivery checklist and control record for each engagement.
  • The CRM for clients, projects and tasks.
  • Google Workspace, Calendly and Zoom for client communication.
  • GitHub, read-only, to follow what the engineers are doing.

Who you work with

  • Jonah, the founder, who approves scope, price and go-live.
  • The engineers on each project.
  • The client’s named process owner and technical owner.

YOUR VIDEO

Show us who you are, for this role.

You do not need any AI experience. We will train you. What we care about most is that you are dedicated, hard-working and want to stick with us and grow with the company. Be yourself: we would much rather meet you than a perfect script.

Record a 60–90 second video and email it to [email protected] with the role in the subject line. Subject line: “Video: Project Manager”.

What to say in your video

  1. Who you are, where you are based, and why this role interests you.
  2. Walk us through your plan for the first week of a new project.
  3. A client asks for something out of scope halfway through. Say it the way you would say it to the client.
  4. How many hours a week you can give, and when you could start.

Your phone is fine, one take is fine, and it does not need to be polished. Sit somewhere quiet with good light and talk to the camera like you would to a person. Send a file or a link (Google Drive, YouTube unlisted, Loom or similar).

Email your video to [email protected], or upload it or paste a link in the form. Read the full guide.
