CAREERS · INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR
AI Solutions Engineer
You build small, useful tools for real businesses, one project at a time: connecting the apps they already use, simple automations, and AI helpers that save an owner time. You get a clear brief, you test your work, and you tell us honestly what works and what does not. You write short notes so anyone can pick the project up later. You are paid per project.

WHY ASTERION
A company worth growing with.
Asterion helps businesses bring AI and custom software into the way they actually work: the tools they already use, the processes that eat their week. We are growing, and we need good people to grow with.
- Real work that matters. You help real business owners fix real problems. No busywork, no scripts for their own sake.
- A company still being built. We are building this company on purpose. The people who join early shape how we work and can become a big part of it.
- Fair, flexible and hands-off. Remote, with clear goals and room to do the work your way. Jonah, the founder, is not a strict boss: we want smart people who work hard and treat each other and customers fairly.
- You earn more when you win more. We agree on your pay together before you start, no surprises. Do great work and you can make a lot of money doing this.
A NORMAL WEEK
What the work looks like.
- Start from the brief and the acceptance checks for your piece. If something is unclear or unrealistic, you say so early.
- Build the workflow or system step by step with AI assistants and workflow tools, and test it as you go.
- Point integrations at a staging copy first, with sending turned off, and try the unhappy cases: missing records, duplicate webhooks, outages, rate limits.
- Show what works and send a short written update: what works now, what changed, what you need, what is next.
- Write the short runbook and handoff notes as you go, not at the end.
WHAT YOU WOULD OWN
Yours to run.
- A scoped workflow or system, from first draft to accepted handoff.
- Its tests, and an honest account of what was and was not checked.
- Its runbook and handoff notes, so the client can run it.
- Your price and timeline for the project, and a flag the moment either will not hold.
HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED
What a good month looks like.
- Projects delivered and accepted by the client. Accepted means the client’s reviewer signs off, not just that it ran in a demo.
- Delivered in the time you quoted, with problems raised early rather than late.
- Few defects found after acceptance.
- A handoff someone else could pick up and run.
SKILLS
What we need from you.
Must have
- Curiosity and some hands-on time with AI tools (coding assistants, prompts, workflow builders), and the judgement to check their output. We train the rest.
- Comfortable with APIs, webhooks and connecting systems, with enough SQL or scripting (Python or JavaScript) to make things work.
- Careful with client data and credentials; you never paste a secret into a chat or a repo.
- Plain communication: you can explain what you built to a non-engineer.
Nice to have
- Workflow tools such as n8n, Make or Zapier, or Supabase and Postgres.
- Deeper TypeScript or Python, React/Next.js, or Cloudflare.
- Integrating CRMs, accounting, scheduling or ERP systems.
TOOLS AND PEOPLE
What you would use, and who you would work with.
Tools
- AI coding assistants such as Claude Code and Codex.
- Workflow and automation builders, plus direct API and webhook connections.
- GitHub for the code, and Supabase (Postgres, auth, storage) when a project needs a database.
- Staging environments and automated tests.
Who you work with
- Jonah, the founder, who scopes the work and approves architecture, merges and go-live.
- The delivery lead, who runs the plan and talks to the client.
- The client’s own technical owner, for access and answers.
YOUR VIDEO
Show us who you are, for this role.
You do not need any AI experience. We will train you. What we care about most is that you are dedicated, hard-working and want to stick with us and grow with the company. Be yourself: we would much rather meet you than a perfect script.
Record a 60–90 second video and email it to [email protected] with the role in the subject line. Subject line: “Video: AI Solutions Engineer”.
What to say in your video
- Who you are, where you are based, and why this role interests you.
- Show something you built (a screen-share is fine). Say what it does and who uses it.
- Tell us about one thing that broke, and how you found out.
- How many hours a week you can give, and when you could start.
Your phone is fine, one take is fine, and it does not need to be polished. Sit somewhere quiet with good light and talk to the camera like you would to a person. Send a file or a link (Google Drive, YouTube unlisted, Loom or similar).
Email your video to [email protected], or upload it or paste a link in the form. Read the full guide.
